Joy Mellinger, Instructor

Joy started dancing with the Jeffie Jean Dance Studio at the age of 3 years old. She trained in all disciplines and at 14 years old started dancing professionally. Her awards & scholarships include UCA-All American Cheerleader, UDA-All American Dancer, Patsy Swayze Scholarship, Joe Tremaine Scholarship: Memorial Scholarship in memory of Jeffie Jean Bolton, Joe Tremaine Convention & Year Scholar in Van Nuys, CA, Al Gilbert Convention Demonstrator, Caravan Kid for Dance Caravan, Showstopper National Winner, Starpower National Winner. In 1998, Joy was Miss Dance of Dixie for Chapter 37 of Dance Master of America, where she competed in Miss Dance of America and won the Leadership award and a scholarship to the Teacher’s Training Institute in Buffalo, NY. Joy is now entering her 25th year as a dance educator, and we are proud to welcome her to the JHDS faculty!
